The Bishop of our ward just released the entire Young Women's Presidency and called a new one. I am the Young Women's Secretary. Collin and I were on our way to Tennessee to go white water rafting Friday when we got a phone call from the Bishop asking us to come in that night. Of course, we couldn't, but he decided to extend the calling to me over the phone.
We were both released the following Sunday from Nursery even though we were still out of town, and I was more sad than I thought I would be. After all, we didn't get to say goodbye or have one last Sunday with them knowing it would be our last, and I still think about the kids that took so long for them to warm up to us and worry about them for their parent's sake.
My first activity was Tuesday night. We played a get to know you game and I still have no idea who is who. There are over 20 young women. Our first Presidency Meeting is Sunday before church, so I'm eager to learn what my exact duties are and what to expect. So far other than normal secretarial duties, I know that I will also be in charge of Personal Progress, meaning I will be in charge of some activities and passing off the girls when they complete a project.
The girls seemed really nice and accepting. I'm already excited about going Christmas Caroling. That was one of my favorite activities when I was in youth. Wish me luck! I just hope I can be a positive influence for them. Heaven knows I'm something of a pessimist. I will work on that, at least in front of the girls.
